Happy Mother’s Day

holidays, kids, Spring

Happy Mother’s Day to all my readers tomorrow. We’re spending the morning with my parents then enjoying the rest of the day at home by the pool and barbecuing.
Off topic a little, I’ve limited my red meat intake to two times a month, so May’s quota will be filled on Mother’s Day and Memorial Day.
I hope you all have a wonderful time with your parents and families tomorrow. I can’t wait to see what my kids thought up for me. I still need them to draw pictures for grandma tomorrow.

Hope Springs Eternal

Baseball, Spring

Here we are at Spring Training, the place where grown men live out their dreams of playing a game (for a lot of money).
First of all, I can’t believe this is the first time I ever made it out to Arizona for Spring Training, considering my background in sports information and my overall love of the game. I’m really quite ashamed of myself. But I’m here now, and getting to share this experience with the kids is terrific.
I love the hope that Spring gives to the whole baseball community. It’s great to watch the big league guys get back to work, and watch the minor league players lucky enough to be invited to training show off their stuff for the clubs, maybe they will get called up sometime in the summer.
And maybe, with the right combination of management and talent, and a miracle, the fans will be there for their team, praying that they make it to October this year (I’m looking at you, Cubs fans).
Our little miracle came to us over winter meetings and cost $240 million over 10 years. But lets not forget that Pujols led the Cards to a World Series win. I’m also looking forward to seeing CJ Wilson on the mound. The OC native and former Rangers pitcher will be a great addition to the Angels’ rotation.
I was a little disappointed at first that we couldn’t get out here earlier this month, but now I’m glad we waited until the end of Spring Training. I’m looking forward to getting back home, the season starts in just a little over a week now.
I definitely have Spring Fever!
